That's Totally Fetch

African Extracts Rooibos Advantage

One thing I dread most about winter other than the cold is how much my skin battles. It dries up like a prune. Over the years I have realized that I have to moisturize twice as much in winter and exfoliate at least twice a week. As some of you may know I’m having an absolute melt down about turning 26 {if you didn’t know then you can read all about it here…}. I don’t want my skin to sag and wrinkle. I want to look young and youthful forever. Realistically though, that isn’t going to happen and I’ll probably age like cheese. While we are young we have to do everything we can to prevent looking like moldy cheese in our older years. Sun block and the correct skincare products can go a long way.

I was beyond thrilled when African Extracts sent me their new Rooibos AdvantAGE skin care range to try out. I felt like they heard my cry for help. The skin care range uses Bio-Active Rooibos extract, natural plant ingredients and the power of antioxidants to help you control the signs of ageing. I’m BIG on Au-natural products. I received the hydrating creamy cleaner, the gentle refining polish, day and night cream, triple action serum, rejuvenating eye cream and the enriched hand and nail cream. I was overwhelmed to say the least. To be honest, I have never had so many products in my skin care range. However, I was super excited. My skin chooses to be super sensitive at times, even when I use all natural products, so I was interested to see how my skin would react.

The hydrating creamy cleanser is so gentle. No tingle or red blotchy-ness after using it which is amazing. My skin felt so soft and refreshed. The creamy cleanser is packed with Bio-Active Rooibos extract, aloe leaf extract and vitamins C and E. I did feel that if I wore heavier makeup, it wouldn’t remove it as well, so I went out and purchased the African Extracts Rooibos facial wipes. I like my face to be totally makeup free, so a double cleanse might be necessary.

Twice a week, I exfoliate my face with the gentle refining polish. This is one of my favorite products from the skincare line. My skin feels so soft once I’ve rinsed off the product. It smells lovely as well. The main ingredients in the refinishing polish are Bio-Active Rooibos extracts, jojoba and grape seed oil, apricot seed and aloe leaf extracts. These ingredients are perfect for dry skin, making it the perfect product for winter.

I’ve always only ever stuck to one moisturizer for day and night. This was a nice change. The day and night cream come in gorgeous packaging, it looks so luxurious. Ingredients included in the day cream are advanced anti-ageing complexes, Pronalen EAP™ with horse chestnut, lady’s thistle, green tea and germinated wheat the purpose of these are to tighten and make your skin firm. Then the Pronalen BioProtect™, with ginseng, apple, peach, wheat and barley are there to protect your skin from harmful effects of pollutants and UV radiation. What I love about the day cream is the SPF 50 in it. My skin really seems to be loving the day cream. No irritation just super hydrated soft skin. The night cream consists of ProVitagen Complex II™, with lady’s thistle, germinated soy and wheat germ, and vitamins A, C and E. These ingredients are meant to delay any signs of aging. Let’s hope this is true, but only time will tell. I love that the night cream is non-greasy and leaves my skin feeling radiant.

The eye cream is so silky, it is non-greasy and glides on like a dream. It’s ingredients include Bio-Active Rooibos, sea fennel, buckwheat seed extract, skin-smoothing allantois and light deflectors. I have noticed that the puffiness around my eyes has slightly reduced as for the dark circles, they are sadly still there but I have never been able to get rid of those.

The last facial product is the triple action serum. It’s aim is to boost skin and give it a youthful radiance. Ingredients included are Bio-Active Rooibos, marine plant actives, aloe vera, jojoba seed oil, lavender, hyaluronic acid and ceramides. I was quite skeptical about using the serum because I tend to have a skin allergy to lavender. I do seem to get slight redness after application but it wears off and leaves my skin feeling amazing.

And last but not least the hand and nail cream. Many of you may know how much I LOATHE having dry hands. There is nothing worse, nothing that upsets me more. So this product was welcomed with open arms. The hand cream has SPF 15 which is amazing, it’s so important to protect your hands. Bio-Active Rooibos extract, milk thistle extract, vitamins A, E and C as well as keratin. The cream leaves my hands feeling hydrated and soft. Say goodbye to winter dryness.

All in all I am super happy with my current skin care routine. The range is pretty affordable and can be purchased at Dischem stores.  My skin looks and feels healthy and that is the most important thing. I’m glad that one of the main aims of the AdvantAGE product range is that it combats dryness as that is my biggest concern about winter.

A big thank you to African Extracts and 4Elements Media for the stunning products.

Is anyone else using the African Extracts AdvantAGE range? What are your thoughts on it?

[…] Rooibos AdvantAGE range. I was super excited as I absolutely loved their Rooibos AdvantAGE range {which I did a review on… click here}. Their new skin care range is called Purifying. I have been trying out their Spot Control Face […]

Khursheed Karbelkar says:

Thanks for the info… Would this range be suitable for sensitive, dry, flaky skin with mild rocasea on the t-zone..

Dee says:

Hi Khursheed, I wouldn’t recommend using it on such sensitive skin. Even though it is an all natural brand. Maybe contact African Extracts and ask if they can assist with samples?
