This post is definitely long over due. Searching for the correct foundation can feel like mission impossible sometimes. I stuck to one foundation for the longest time because it worked absolutely beautifully but recently I have started playing around with others. Specifically drugstore brands and let me tell you… they have upped there game! The L.A Girl Pro Coverage foundation was ALL the rage amongst bloggers a few months ago and I decided that the FOMO was getting too real, so I finally purchased a bottle. The first bottle I purchased was too dark for me… I know epic fail. So I had to go back and purchase another. In any case, I rushed home like a little girl that just got a Barbie and couldn’t wait to try it out.
In total there are 16 shades to choose from so you are bound to find something that suits you. If not, LA Girl has come out with an Illuminating foundation, this basically works like lightening drops. If the foundation is a smidge too dark, you mix in a bit of the illuminating foundation and viola… it’s a perfect match. L.A Girl claims that the foundation is long wear as well as a full coverage foundation that gives you a flawless finish. The formula is meant to be lightweight as well as paraben free. The Pro Coverage foundation has added anti-oxidants which aim to hydrate and improve your skins appearance. Sounds like a dream foundation. Well I put it to the test and these were the results.
I picked up the shade Fair. I got a good 6 hour wear out of the foundation before having to touch up around my nose and a wee bit on my chin. To me, that’s pretty darn good for a drugstore foundation. The foundation gives you a dewy finish, so I wouldn’t recommend this to girls with oily skin or girls that don’t like a bit of a shine. It does get slightly oiler looking throughout the day but I’m not too phased by it, if it does bug you then make sure to have some blotting sheets with you or powder. It definitely gives you full coverage and doesn’t feel like you have caked your face to achieve it. I was actually quick shook at how good the coverage was. If you not a full coverage kind of girl then steer clear. This foundation covers ERRRRR’THING! One thing I always look out for when testing out a new foundation is weather or not I break out after a weeks of use and there were no break outs at all. I found that applying this foundation with a sponge was best however it looked perfectly fine when I used my stippling brush as well.
All in all, I can see where the hype was at. For just R175.00 for a bottle, I’d stay this is a total winner. L.A Girl is sold exclusively at Dischem stores in South Africa. Alternatively you can purchase their products online and can be found in most drugstore abroad.
I do plan on testing more drugstore foundations for you guys. Hopefully I come across more gems like this for you. I really hope you enjoyed this review. If you have tried this foundation please let me know, I would love to know your thoughts.
Wishing you a day as flawless as your foundation!
