IT’S FINALLY HERE!
The Maybelline Fit Me Concealers have finally hit SA shelves. I was beyond excited when Maybelline sent me the PR drop for them, thank you so much to the team. As some of you might have noticed, drugstore brands have definitely upped their game lately, and so I really wanted to see if the Fit Me Concealers were worth the hype.
“Skin looks perfected with this natural coverage liquid concealer. This oil-free concealer formula conceals redness, flaws, and blemishes. Matches all skin tones. Dermatologist tested. Ophthalmologist tested. Non-comedogenic concealer. Fragrance-free.”
To me, recommending foundations and concealers is always the trickiest, purely because everyone’s skin takes differently to products. My biggest issue with concealers is finding one that isn’t drying, and reading that the Fit Me concealer is oil-free made me a wee bit nervous that this would be a total miss for me. Nonetheless, I picked up shade 05 (the lightest shade) and 10, and got testing. The formula is very creamy and it blends beautifully with a dampened beauty blender. A little product goes a long way, so don’t go too crazy when applying. I’m not going to lie, I was rather shook at how well it applied. I haven’t had the greatest experience with drugstore concealers but this one had me SUPER impressed. The application was flawless, it concealed and brightened my under eye area and I was beyond happy.
On day one I set it with a powder as I do with all my other concealers and it seemed ok, a little drying but I thought let me see how it wears throughout the day. To be honest, I wasn’t impressed and the world’s smallest violin started playing because I was sooooooo bleak. I just didn’t understand why it was looking so cakey, my under eye area looked SUPER dry. It was just not a good concealer day. I was determined to make this work for me, so on day two I tried to wear it with no setting powder and the results were FABULOUS! No creasing, it wore beautifully throughout the whole day. It’s safe to say that I’m in love. If you do have a drier under eye area, I would recommend using a hydrating primer, popping on the concealer and not setting it at all. This worked wonders for me, I’ve been using the concealer non-stop since then. The darker shades are really great for contouring as well.
There are 12 shades available within the range, which I think is pretty darn good, as you are bound to find a shade that suits you. The packaging is sleek and I love it. It comes with a doe-foot applicator that picks up a good amount of product. All in all, I am super chuffed with the concealer. The Fit Me Concealers retail for R109.95 and can be found in Dischem, Clicks, Red Square and Foschini.
Have you tried out the Fit Me Concealers? What are your thoughts?
“Concealer is like spanx for the face.”
