Herrrroooo Sugar Lumps,
Finding the perfect foundation for your skin type is sometimes the biggest mission ever. Estee Lauder’s double wear has been my holy grail foundation for years now. It always gives me the full coverage that I want, however lately I have taken a liking to a more natural light coverage. Over the past 2 months my Twitter has been filled with images of the new Fresh Nude foundation from The Body Shop, so I decided to give it a go.
What really caught my eye were the words “hydrating” and “lightweight”. The last thing I want to do during this dry season is to suffocate my skin. So finding a product that will hydrate my skin and let it breathe is super important to me. My skin luckily is not as dry as it use to be. I picked up the shade “Santorini Sunset 040”.
There are 16 shades to choose from, so there should be something for everyone. If not, The Body Shop has also come out with Shade adjusting drops, turning an almost there shade to the perfect shade. I have yet to try the drops out.
At first the product seemed rather runny and it made me a little sceptical. As I applied it to my skin, it glided on beautifully, all you need is two pumps. A little goes a long way. The product was super lightweight and it didn’t feel like I had any makeup on my face, to me there is no worse feeling than the feeling of a caked face. In order to get a good medium coverage, I would recommend applying two coats but if you are looking for more of an au-natural look then one coat is perfect. I usually apply a primer when I want more of a medium coverage. If you have blemishes that you are trying to cover up, I would recommend using a concealer.
The finish is semi-matte, which I love. It gives you a nice and natural glow, perfect for winter. I got a good 6 hours wear out of the product before having to touch up a little. I love that my skin feels moisturized and soft during the course of the day. I am always so worried when trying out new foundations because of break outs, I have on a couple of occasions broken out so badly because of foundations. I’m happy to say that the Fresh Nude Foundation caused no break outs at all. The foundation is paraben free. It is enriched with English rose water and Aloe Vera.
Education time: Rosewater helps control excess oil, it balances the pH level in your skin and has anti-inflammatory properties, making this a great product if you have sensitive skin. Aloe Vera helps battle acne and acts as a moisturizer. You really can’t go wrong with these two ingredients. The Fresh Nude Foundation also has a SPF of 15 for added protection.
Final Verdict: I think that it is a great everyday foundation. For some the long-wear of the foundation might be a deal breaker but I have no issue with it. If you are looking for a full coverage then again this foundation is not for you. I have really enjoyed using the Fresh Nude Foundation and it has become a favourite. You can pick it up at any The Body Shop store and selected Clicks stores for R295.00.
