Winter Proof your Skin with Mixa + Giveaway

6 June 2018 | 8 Comments

And so the cold days are slowly creeping into the Southern Hemisphere. I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for the doom and gloom that is winter. As the humidity levels drop and the air gets cooler and cooler, I can already feel the effects the season is having on my skin. Some of you will know that I can’t stand dry skin, there is something about it that totally freaks me out. Something inside of me wants to burst into flames the second my skin feels remotely on the dry side. I have no idea where this dark and deep loathing for dry skin stems from but it’s there and it’s oh so real. We all know that our skin takes an absolute beating during the colder season, so better preparation needs to be put in place to avoid your skin from developing a whole new gross persona. Moisturisation and hydration is the key to healthy looking skin. Skincare is something I am truly passionate about, as most of you will know. As the saying goes, “healthy skin is always in.” So when Mixa asked me to join their “Winter-proof your Skin” campaign, I jumped at the opportunity.

Mixa is the NEW brand that launched in South Africa beginning of March 2018. Mixa may be a newbie to S.A shelves but it’s a golden oldie to Europe, with 93 years of research and happy skin under it’s belt, Mixa is definitely the number one sensitive skin expert. Mixa was founded by Dr. Roger, a French pharmacist. Dr Roger used his passion and expertise to develop a special mixing technique to blend cream with traditional apothecary ingredients, to create a product that soothes a number of skin irritations. And thus, Mixa was born.  I did a full review on the lotions on my blog a little while ago, you can follow this link to check it out {Mixa – Say Goodbye to Dry Skin}.

Mixa was specifically formulated to treat dry skin, and so this product will definitely be your best friend during the winter season. Having a great moisturizer aids in stopping your skin from dehydrating. Did you know that by keeping your skin smooth and hydrated you are preventing it from outbreak and possible infections. Without taking proper measures during the winter season you are doing your skin more harm than good.

Mixa has kept innovating and providing specialist solutions for sensitive skin to accompany women and their families in their active lives, with effective, skin-respecting products, in textures that are pleasurable to use.”

What I love most about the Mixa lotions is how quickly they absorb into your skin. The formula is super lightweight, so if you aren’t a fan of the feel of creams and lotions on your skin then this is a definite winner for you. I personally find, that the best time to apply lotions to your skin is right after a warm shower (NOT HOT, just warm, as hot water drys the skin out even more). Your skin is at it’s most MOIST (haha I know some people will flinch reading that) right after a shower, by applying your lotion to damp skin, you are essentially doubling up on moisture. Your skin will lock in all that moisture, resulting in happy and healthy skin.

If you suffer from dry & sensitive skin then the Oat Milk lotion (pink pump) is definitely for you. It is hypoallergenic and paraben free. The soothing lotion will help your skin with any irritation, tightness or discomfort.

The restoring body lotion (orange pump) is enriched with Allantoin. Allantoin is known for it’s repairing, regenerating, moisturizing and soothing properties, it is perfectly suitable for sensitive skin and is also paraben free.

The Anti-Dryness lotion (blue pump) is enriched with coriander oil. Coriander helps the skin maintain a satisfactory state of hydration, it leaves your skin feeling nourished, comfortable and soft.

The Cica Cream is Mixa’s show stopper. If you suffer badly from super dry and cracked skin then this is for you. The Cica cream contains panthenol (which is essentially Vitamin B5), this helps with soothing your skin and repairing it. The balm will help reinforce the skins barrier function and relieves skin from any discomfort. The Cica Repair balm is a multi-purpose soothing product, suitable to use on your face, hands and feet and is also suitable for the whole family.

The price point on these amazing products is another thing I absolutely adore. The products are super affordable, perfect for anyone on a budget. The lotions in the pump bottle retail for – R46.00 (250ml), R59.00 (400ml) and the Cica Cream retails for R80.00. Can someone say WINNING!

Fight the winter blues by stocking up on Mixa lotions. Trust me you won’t regret it. Mixa can be bought in Dischem and Clicks store nation wide as well as on Take A lot (Use my code “totallyfetch20” to receive a 20% discount on your purchase).
