When a makeup brand releases a new collection its super difficult not to try it out. It’s even harder when the packaging is as stunning as the new Catrice Kaviar Gauche collection. I mean, could packaging be any prettier! I feel like purchasing extra just so I can have it on display on my beauty desk. The new collection, which is available at most Dischem & Red Square stores, is made up of soft romantic pastel colours. Perfect for the upcoming Summer season.
Now for the million dollar question… is the product as great as the packaging?
This is the Gilding Eye and Face Palette C01 Once Upon a Time, it comes with 6 gorgeous soft eye shadow shades, 1 highlighting powder and 1 contouring powder as well as an applicator and a white pencil liner. Sadly the pigmentation isn’t as amazing as I was hoping it would be in the eye shadows. I would highly recommended applying an eye base or concealer onto your eyelids before applying the eye shadow in order for the colour to pop a little. You will have to reapply the colour a couple of times depending on the depth that you are looking for. These eye shadows are perfect if you desire a very soft and light look. The highlighter has a slight shimmer to it, no glitter – scoring major brownie points with me. The contouring powder has better pigmentation than the eye shadows which is a relief, the product is buildable and works nicely as a bronzer. I was rather surprised with the white eye pencil, I have seldom come across one that works well, this one works rather nicely. All in all, I think that the palette gets a 3.5 out of 5 from me – purely because the pigmentation is not as intense as I expected. The price of the palette is really inexpensive (I threw my slip away – shoot me). I am pretty sure I paid more of less R149 for it, which I think is a steal!
Catrice has also come out with the Kaviar Gauche Blurring Powder Pearls Co1 Sweet Secret. These bright nude and pastel shaded pearl balls are so gorgeous. The pigmentation in this product is much better than in the eye shadows. I would recommend using this as a highlighter more than anything else. The product leaves a nice glow to your face once applied and you can build it up pretty nicely. The pearl balls go for about R89 – more or less
I’m not the biggest fan when it comes to lip glosses but I had to try this one out. I purchased the Butterfly Kiss Lipgloss instead of the Honey Blossom as I felt the Honey Blossom was a little too light for me. The colour intensity of the lipgloss isn’t very extreme. The colour isn’t entirely transparent, it’s quite opaque and like most glosses it doesn’t last that long on your lips. However the end result is very pretty and natural which is perfect for every day use. The lip gloss has a very light texture which I totally love because I hate feeling like I’ve got product on my lips. The lip gloss goes for roughly R49.99.
All-in-all I quite like the collection, it’s pretty, feminine, romantic and perfect for a spring/summer look. The only let down was the eye shadows, simply because of the pigmentation. The collection is a limited edition, so if you want it then I suggest you get to your nearest Dischem or Red Square. Let me know your views on the Kaviar Gauche Collection?
Stay stylish & fabulous.
