Out With the Old & In With the New

Hi Sugas,

Anxiety sucks. So much has been going on that I have just needed to take a step back and re-evaluate everything. I have been in such a negative space and I needed to detox my life. I wasn’t happy with me, I was in this gross rut and needed to get out. I lost who I was. A part of me is still figuring out how to get back to being me, and what makes me happy but this all takes time. I have discovered so much about myself in the past few weeks and have really put in an effort to focus on me. I have always been a selfless person, always putting everyone else before myself and it’s done me no good. I’m slowly figuring out a balance between being selfless and selfish. Life is all about balance.

I have become fully aware that the only way for me to really move forward is by decluttering my life. I need to get rid of the drama, I need to walk away from the toxic people in my life and surround myself with people that add value to it. People that love and appreciate me and the people that have my best interests at heart. We don’t realize how impressionable we are as humans, who we let in can affect us more than we realize. We become like chameleons, blending into our surroundings. And in doing so you land up losing your own identity. You can not expect positive changes to happen in your life if you surround yourself with negativity. Happiness is not achieved by how much you have or how many people you know, it’s achieved by finding inner peace with yourself and getting rid of any darkness. Don’t be afraid to cut people off. Saying goodbye is never easy but the right people that are meant to be in your life will come along. If they are not worthy of you then as Jess from New Girl would say: “SHUT IT DOWN!” You will feel a huge weight being lifted off your shoulders. Trust me, I’ve done it and I feel liberated. Focus on you and what makes you happy. Stop doubting yourself and thinking you are not good enough because you are. Praise yourself. Think of your achievements, set yourself some goals and DO YOU HONEY! Out with the old and in with the new. You can not expect to find happiness if you are not happy with yourself.

“Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?” – The Notebook

Once you figure out what you want. Go for it! Just do whatever makes you happy. Take time out for yourself.  Spoil yourself. Meditate.

DAMN! I am having so many Oprah moments that I just can not keep up. I guess the saying “with age comes wisdom” is pretty true. My birthday has come and gone and now I’m definitely starting to feel like a wise ol’ owl.

I decided to spoil myself a little on my birthday. The minute I saw this coat from Forever New, I knew I wanted it, I needed it, it belonged to me and so I started singing *HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!* See…it’s as easy as that. Figure out what you want. Go for it. BOOM instant happiness.

Not only is it beautiful, its so warm! I am obsessed with coats during winter. There is nothing better than an over sized coat to keep you warm, cosy and fabulous during the dull season.

What a great post – I have anxiety attacks sometimes and it’s definitely important to stop and breathe and declutter your head when life becomes too hectic to juggle. Beautiful blog!
